Professional Legal Videography
The videotaping of vital information by a professional disinterested third party is the preferred and most effective method of preserving testimony or reconstructing an event when building a successful case.

Jeff Swain specializes in legal videography and is certified as a "Certified Court Videographer" by the American Guild of Court Videographers. Performance Video wants to become your "one stop" shop and a key member of your litigating team when it comes to preparing and/or presenting visual evidence in the courtroom, whether that evidence originates here or anywhere else in the world.
Video Depositions
For video depositions, we use an elaborate equipment setup for the best possible results. Anchoring the system is a high-resolution digital camera. Individual, high-quality lavaliere microphones are routed through an audio mixer to control the sound. We use an audio/video distribution amplifier to produce simultaneous copies of the deposition, onto both standard analog VHS tape as well as cassette audiotape, so the attorneys can take their tapes with them at the conclusion of the deposition.
We offer production of video depositions in a variety of formats for your convenience:
- Standard analog VHS video tapes.
- Digital DVD disks. Up to 8 hours of depositions can be put onto a single disk, which is a lot easier to file, plus the attorney can view the deposition on a laptop computer if equipped with a DVD drive.
- Synchronized CD. We can produce a "synchronized deposition CD", showing the video on one half of a computer screen, while the transcript scrolls along on the other side. Advanced software is included on the disk, enabling the attorney to search for key words, highlight certain passages, and export the assembled clips into other programs such as Sanction, LiveNote, or PowerPoint.
We also offer custom editing of deposition tapes (whatever the source), to take out objections for trial presentation or produce a "greatest hits" tape/CD/DVD with the material that best makes your points. PC and/or Macintosh formats are available.
Courtroom Presentations
For presenting visual evidence, most courtrooms are equipped with only a basic TV/VCR, which may or may not work. Large-screen display of evidence is more effective than other means, and more cost effective since there is no need to make multiple hard-copy enlargements.
Performance Video offers a complete state-of-the-art presentation system, including
- a large (6 foot) pop-up screen
- visualizer/presenter
- high-resolution (XGA) DLP projector
- DVD/VCR
- amplified speaker system
- laptop computer
Qualifications & Affiliations
The American Guild of Court Videographers has been established to provide the legal profession with qualified and certified videographers who understand Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 30(b)(4), and the Federal Rules of Evidence which govern the taking of video taped depositions to be admitted in a court of law.
The AGCV is a network of qualified legal videographers, allowing us to meet your legal video needs throughout the US, Canada and Europe.
Performance Video also maintains affiliations with several court reporting firms, which can provide accurate transciption of legal proceedings.
